Botox is diluted into a very controlled solution and injected into targeted muscles with a very thin needle, it is almost completely painless. The procedure takes about 15-20 minutes and results last 3-6 months. Results may last longer with repeated treatments.
Proposed Treatment.
Injection of a very small amount of Botox®, a purified toxin produced by the bacterium clostridium botulinum, into the specific muscle causes weakness or paralysis of that muscle. This results in relaxation of the muscle and improvement of the lines or wrinkles that the muscle action has formed. As of April 2002, it has been FDA-approved for the cosmetic treatment of forehead wrinkles caused by specific muscle groups. Other areas of the face and body such as crow’s feet, wrinkles, and neck bands may be treated in an "off-label" fashion. Botox has also been used to treat migraine headaches, colorectal disorders, excessive perspiration disorders of the armpit and hands, and musculoskeletal pain disorders. Botox injections are customized for every patient, depending on areas of concern. Botox cannot stop the process of aging. It can, however, temporarily diminish the look of wrinkles caused by muscle groups. Botox injections may be performed as a singular procedure or as an adjunct to a surgical procedure. Common areas in the face where Botox is injected include the forehead, Glabellar (in between the brows), Bunny lines, under eye wrinkles, frown lines, crow’s feet, Gummy smiles, TMJ, the list is endless
Anticipated Benefit.
- Response usually is seen 2-10 days after injection. The duration of muscle paralysis generally lasts for approximately three to four months. At this point, repeat treatment will relax the muscles and soften the lines again.
Two major Botox cosmetics we work with are Xeomin & Jeuveau. Both have rapid effects and are long-lasting.
